Creating Curriculum and Faculty Diversity in Musicology: Connections and Some DisconnectsJean Ngoya Kidula, David Schiller. This workshop will engage the audience in a dialogue which touches on several perennial questions which arise at the intersection of identity politics and academic research. In particular we are interested in the differences between chosen and imposed identities, the privileging or disqualification of teachers and subjects based on these identities, and the special status of music as a lingua franca of cross-cultural discourse.
