An Interactive Discussion on the Topic of Multicultural and Globalization Curriculums

In that humans are endowed with unique potential, it is crucial that the ability is developed to its fullest capacity. Multicultural and globalization curriculum strategies have proven to be productive in promoting motivation, retention of students as well as learning. These strategies include , but not limited to: cooperative and active engagement learning strategies, virtual classroom experiences, as well as the incorporation of learning styles into the teaching techniques. Cooperative group and active engagement strategies improve interpersonal skills. In addition active engagement strategies increase higher order thinking skills such as reasoning. Virtual classroom experiences allow students to experience the world and become acquainted with citizens from all over the world. And lastly, the incorporation of learning styles into teaching practices, increases learning and retention of newly obtained knowledge.

Dr. Green is a professor in the Department of Special Services at the University of Central Oklahoma. Over that last 21 years, she has taught at the elementary, secondary and university levels. Additionally, she has served as a Multicultural Curriculum Coordinator, Multicultural Student Recruitment co-director and Special School co-director. Her credentials include a Ph.D. in Applied Behavioral Studies, a Master in Education degree in Education with an emphasis in Learning Disabilities and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.


Tanisha Billingslea  (United States)


Cameron University

I currently am an instructor for the Education Department at Cameron University. My teaching responsibilities include Developmental Psychology as well as a variety of courses for the Early Childhood Associates program: Child Growth and Development,
Curriculum Resources, and Health, Safety, and Nutrition.
